Martin Wine Cellar – 714 Elmeer in Metairie, LA. We absolutely love Martin Wine Cellar. The service is great; even Mr. Martin himself is there to work the room and bestow our 5 year old with a free package of chocolate chip cookies. The Sena Salad has baby field greens, raisins, shredded oven-roasted chicken, blu cheese and a Tabasco Pepper Jelly vinaigrette dressing that we only wish they’d bottle & sell. They also have an amazing variety of extremely reasonable wines by the glass.2. Manchego Salad: St. James Cheese Shop – 5004 Prytania. They really build this salad to perfection. It’s not just the ingredients but the precise amounts of each ingredient that makes this salad so tasty. With manchego cheese, pears & almonds on a bed of arugula with their homemade quince vinaigrette it’s absolutely delicious.3. Covey Rise Baby Greens: Domenica Restaurant  in the Roosevelt Hotel – 123 Baronne. Baby greens with apples, goat cheese & crispy prosciutto. How can you go wrong with that combination. It’s just enough salt from the prosciutto to really help the apples & goat cheese explode in your mouth.4. Panzanella Salad: Crescent Pie & Sausage – 4400 Banks St. This is a pretty simple version of the Panzanella Salad, but simple doesn’t mean drab at all. With baby greens, grilled asparagus, roasted tomatoes, squash, a healthy sprinkle of parmesan, and a caper vinaigrette – it’s nice & light yet hearty.5. Arugula Salad: Slice – 5538 Magazine St. This is such a simple salad that we love to make this one at home, as well. Arugula, tomato, & course grated parmesan with a lemon pepper vinaigrette. Its a great starter salad to ensure you don’t eat too much pizza.LAGNIAPPEMarinated Brussels Sprouts: Cochon Butcher – 930 Tchoupitoulas St. While not quite a salad, per se, it is a vegetable dish! And a delicious one at that. Pan roasted brussels sprouts seasoned with a red pepper flake marinade that’s only mildly spicy (at least that’s what we think. Would love to make these at home). If you happen to know of an amazing salad that isn’t on this list, please share.]]
